Assignment #3

It is almost Thanksgiving and a time when we are to be mindful of the things we have. After watching and/or reading The Crucible, what do you believe is your most valuable possession?
There is a time and a place for everything, and this is not the time nor the place for silly frivolity. I want a serious and thoughtful response. This post must be complete by November 21.

My most valuable possession is definitely my parents. This may be a generic answer but through watching the Crucible it has opened my eyes and helped me appreciate them so much more.
For example, when John Procter was accused of witchcraft, right after he signed the written confession, he ripped it up. Not only for his name's sake, but also for his family and the way they would be affected through that. He cared about his family very much and that was evident.
This reminds me of just how much my parents have sacrificed for me and my brother, not only providing us with the necessities for life, but also the installment of morals and values in life. They may not have sacrificed their own physical lives, but socially and financially, they have. It just makes me feel so blessed to have parents that care that much, and I hope I never forget that.

I am going to have to go along with another generic answer as well. MY FRiENDS are something that are a very important and valuble possession to me. Without friends, I wouldn't be able to get throuhg half the things that are thrown at me everyday. Having people that you can talk to and aid you through many difficult situations is a great benefit! Like in The Crucible, Abby and all of her friends had stuck togeteher through the harsh times when they were being accused of withcraft. To me, if this would have been me and my friends, I knoow they would have done the same for me by sticking up for me. By having such wonderful friends, I am so very thankful!

My most valuable possessions are definitely my family and close friends. I am so grateful to have them all in my life. They have all seen me at my worst, been with me through my emotional break downs, listened when I needed to talk, and given me advice, yet they love me all the same. Just like in the Crucible. John and Elizabeth stuck together even though they knew they were innocent. Abby and her friends also stuck together through the whole thing. Even though they knew what they were doing was wrong, and a lie, they still kept going with it so none of them would get in trouble.
Everyone should be thankful for that.

From watching The Crucible I'd have to say my most valued possession would be my relationship with Christ. Throughout the story and movie they were hanging people for being witches and talking about how God condems all who lie but yet for the accussed to save their lives they were being forced to lie. To me this shows that it doesn't matter how much the outside world forces you to sin in the end you're going to be judged by Christ and no one else. He knows if you lied even if it is to save your life its still a sin. So for that fact in itself the one and only true thing that matters to me is that honesty and trust between me and my God, because this life is only temporary but the relationship I have with him is eternal.

My most valuable possession would most definitely have to be my friends and my family. The reason I have two is because my family can only really be there for to a certain extent and that’s when my friends come in. My family is sacrificing themselves for me. For example when they use their money when I am in need. My parents are always putting us kids before them. They protect me and try their hardest to keep me safe and out of trouble. I really realized this in the Crucible when John Procter decides not sign his name to the Church door because he didn't want to give him and his family a bad name. So instead of signing and going free, and was hung because he wouldn't sign his name and give his kids and wife a bad name.

The reason why my friends are a very valuable possession is because when I am hurt and down, they are always here for me. When I need them most, they are there to help me through what I am going through. When I need someone to go to about something that I don't want ANYONE to know about, not even my parents, I know that I can count on my friends. If I am in any kind of trouble, my friends are there. This is also shown in the Crucible when John Procter said that he was guilty even though he wasn't. And then when they ask him if he saw Goody Nurse and Goody Corey with the devil, he said no. He was trying to stop them from being executed.

I believe that my most valuable possession is my Bible. With out my Bible I don't think that there would be a day that went by without it being chaotic.

My most valuable possesion would have to be my very close friends, and also, which some may not know why, but playing golf, because if I am I having problems then I can always go to them, or find refuge in playing golf. These simple things may not seem much to some people, but to me, they mean everything.

I treasure my knowledge, but it is not my most valuable possession. For instance, I had to look up frivolity.
My most valuable possession is my friends. They are always there when you need them and know you better than anyone else could ever.

I would have to say that love is my most valuable possession. Love is the foundation of every part of my life; My family, My friends, and especially my faith and belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even though John in "The Crucible" committed such a dispicable crime against their marriage, Elizabeth's love for him was what pushed her to committ an even bigger crime against what she had always known, the laws and rules she was raised by. When John messed up Elizabeth was still there to love him. And just like when we mess up our families and friends are still there to love us and support us. Love is what holds us together, and for that it is so much more valuable than mere physical possessions. It is the very fiber of our existence.

It is difficult for me to choose just one that I cherish and say it is my most valuable possession. while watching "The Crucible" I relized that it is the people we know and meet that affect us the most and so I do believe that it is the people I know and the people I meet that could be the closes one to being my most valuable because, through them I see everything. I dont mean see as in with your eyes, but as in understanding. In "The Crucible" the people of Salem were not truly paying any notice to those around them. They were only looking out for themselves and what they wanted. By the time they lifted their heads to look around most of there friends were dead. I have no way of truly knowing what it was like to go through that and survive to see the destruction that one person can cause. Watching and hearing "The Crucible" has made me realize that it is not through our eyes that we see but through anothers that we truly see what there is to be seen. Through our own eyes we see only the narrow tunnel and we know not to which it will end. Should we see through anothers eyes we would see a different layer to the cake we call life and gain a new sense of it. So with that I thank Arthur Miller for writing such a play that would open our eyes.

First instinct—my life.

As I’m sure everyone knows, I was in a very serious car accident two months ago. I lost control at 70 mph and flipped Samson, my 1983 BMW 5-series, three times. To everyone’s surprise, I walked out of the car with only scrapes and a bruised up shoulder. It scared me to the point I refused to drive until almost a month after the accident.

You don’t realize how much you appreciate life until you find yourself encased in a scrambled up piece of metal that you once loved. I am still suffering from shoulder injuries, but the accident is no longer with me and I have stopped reliving the event. This experience completely revolutionized how I view the future—the one thing I trusted would take care of itself. Now, more than ever, I see how fast and how violently one’s life can be taken and I appreciate mine more because of it.

I imagine John and Elizabeth kept separate for three long months tortured, depraved and stripped down to the very core of their souls. I see their desire to live through and survive the agony they have experienced—confined, but still tied to one another. In being so close to death, they became stronger people with a stronger love than ever before.

♪♫ My most valuable possesion would have to be my computer. I know it sounds cliché, but this has practically been my life source for the past year or so. It allows me to keep up with all my friends, wherever they may be, see some new faces, and program to my heart's content. The latter has become of more significant importance to me in recent times. It started off as mere practice for Computer Science, a UIL™ event, but it has evolved into a full-blown passion. I look forward, almost every night, to creating and understanding the beautiful thing that is Java™. ♫♪

I love my family so much and they keep me straight and coming from a big family im always being watched. I realy dont know what i would do without them.

Though I cherish a lot of things the most valuable possesion I have would be the people who love me. This goes from friends to family, teachers, managers and whoever else. Without these people, I have absolutely no clue where I would be right now. Without them telling me things like, I'm worth something, and that Im a good person and things of that nature, my self esteem would be really, really...really low. So I love the people who have a contribution in who I am and I thank God for placing thest people in my life.

My most valuable possessions are my family and my closest friends. I know that they will always be there for me no matter what and that is what i love about them. My family makes so many sacrifices for me and my brother, sometimes we take that for granted. I've learned that i should appreciate what they do for us.
I am SO thankful for my family and my friends. I would be nothing without them.

My most valuable possession would have to be my religion including my bible God. I would have nothing if i was not a christian because he is everything and is part of my everyday life. My friends ans family are very important but i would not be here today if it was not for christ. I lean on God, he is my rock and fortress, he is my everthing. Things in my life might not be going the way I want them to but I am very thankful for everything i have right now. My physical possession would be my bible, i know i dont read it as often as i should but it means the world to me. I am thankful for waht God has given me.

My most valued possession would have to be soul, along with everyone else i agree my friends and family are also very valuable. My soul is pretty valuable to me because you can't take anything else with you when you die, and Jesus doesn't judge you because of how many pairs of shoes you have, what your hair style is, what kind of car you drive, he looks to see if your soul is right and focused on him and not hiding in the dark. my family and friends are important because when I'm not having a good day or something is stressing me out i can go to them for advice or a shoulder to cry on.

It took me no more than two seconds to realize what my most valuable possession is. My parents. When I was born my biological mom and dad did not want me and my Mommy and Daddy came to the rescue. Even though their kids were almost grown they took me in and raised me as there own. If it wasn't for my parents there is no telling where i would be. My second most vauable possession is my brother. He is my best friend, and I really think that I would die without him. Everything I do is to make him and my parents happy and proud. The crucible had nothing to do with why I say my brother and parents are my most valuable possession, but after watching it and reading it did make me realize that you need to cherish everything you have cause one....it could all be gone.

My most valuable possession is not one that I have acquired on my own. Throughout my whole life, I have been building up this possession, creating it, destroying it, molding it. As my mind comes to a close, I realize what this possession is: it is not of material, rather it is the essence of who I am. The way I talk, think, breathe, and live all make up who I am. I am an individual; I am not you. I am only myself. From time to time I have troubles with accepting who I am. Mostly, I do not like myself. But what I just recently realized, though I may not like who I am, I am still me, and I am the only person that can make me who I am.

Nothing that anyone could ever say to me will change who I am. I will not change because someone wants me to. As seen in The Crucible, a few of the characters changed who they were just to get what they want (for example, Abigail) and some stayed true to who they were throughout the whole play (John Proctor).

My family would probably be my most valuble possession since without them I wouldn't have near as many things as I do now. Watching The Crucible didn't change my views or open my eyes my family has always clearly been most important to me.

I would have to say my most valuable possession would be my family. Of course i love my friends to death and i go to them with just about everything, but when i can't talk to my mom or dad about something, i know i always have my older sister to go to that i know i talk to about ANYTHING! So, my kinfolks don't only take up the family category, but also my friends.

My most valuable possesion...wow. I can't choose between my journals and my piano. Of course, my family is very important to me, but I dont view them as posessions.

I love my journals, because when I read them, I can remember what has happened to me, how I was feeling, and that to me is priceless. If I lost my memories, I dont know what I'd do. And also in my journals are the songs that I write. If I ever lost those, I'd feel lost. Those are my soul, my heart. They mean so much

My piano. Oh, I love my piano. No matter how I feel, whether I'm infuriated, so sad, or extremely happy, I can sit down, and just release all the emotions that I've bottled inside all day. My piano allows me to express myself in a way that I can't with words.

Valuable to me doesn't mean "cost a lot of money" or anything like that. I place more value on things that some people deem trivial. My journal cost a dollar at the store, but after I fill it with all my thoughts, you couldn't put a price on it.

My most valuable possession? I've been asked this question before, and I usually respond with pictures, my artwork, or other things that couldn't be replaced. However, after reading the Crucible, I have to say that my salvation is my most precious posetion. People and sercumstances are able to take anything awway from you, even your innocentce. But the gift that Jesus gave me when he died to forgive me and pay the ransome for my sins, is what I now hold the most dear.

My most valuable possession would have to be my close family. My parents have guided me the past sixteen years and pointed me in the right direction. Don't get me wrong, my friends have been there whenever I needed them, but my parents and family are the ones that have inspired me to be the person that I am today. After watching The Crucible, I now realize how much I really do appreciate the. I will never forget what they have done and will continue to do for me, because they mean so much deep down inside.

The most valuable possessions in my life has got to be my family and friends. They have loved me through my worst and best. They have been there and carried me through some of the roughest experiences, and they still remain. They have never left me and I know I count on them just as much as they count on me. I know adults say that teenagers are "so dramatic", and that may be true in some cases, but the things we deal with everyday at high school are very much like the real world, and it's our friends that get us through them. I believe without friends and family there is very little hope. I know without the loving support I get from them everyday I wouldn't be here.
An example is when John Proctor came out with the truth, what really happened between Abigail and himself. He put his name and life on the line, to clear his wife of all charges, and his wife never left his side, and she supported his decisions right down to him signing his death certificate pretty much.
Everyone has someone in their life who will never leave their side, someone they can lean on... and know everything will be ok, weather it is one person or several we all have hope, because we have them. My hope are Kristen Hicks, Alyssa Marks, Caitlynn Colville, Jessica Russel, Chelsea Kinser, Corissa "Taco" McIntrye, and Amberly Tosh. Without ya'll my world wouldn't have meaning.

This probably sounds cliche or maybe even immature but this week I realized that my boyfriend is one of my most valuable possessions. Some of you may know that he had a relative die this weekend and was gone for almost a week. This experience taught me a lot. For example, you never know what you've really got until it's gone. Another thing I realized, which is also illustrated in the Crucible is that there are so many more important things than the petty drama we deal with everyday. When I was stressing over homework and tests, there was something much more devastating going on in his life. He was grieving...and I thought my life was stressful.

Although 85% of the people here have answered family or friends, I will have to disagree because I don't veiw these as possessions.

My most valued possession would have to be my individuality, I don't think that I could ever live a day, like most people, simply acting off what they see others do. I like the idea of being my own person, and don't see that ever changing. And, honestly, I don't think that watching or reading The Crucible has changed me or my views, as I have been this way for a long time.

My most valuable possession would definitely be my family. They mean everything to me because they are always there for me. I love them so much because I know that they would be willing to do anything for me. Just like John Proctor in "The Crucible" is willing to die for his family's sake I know my family is willing to do whatever for my well being just like I am for them. I am thankful for them but from now on I will make sure that I let them know that I am, even for the samllest thing.

Friendship is important, friendships last forever, whatever happens, no matter what I do my friends will be there. One friend, that I have had all my life is one person I can go to for anything, especialy when I cant talk to my parents. I value my friends and family and I am thankful God has blessed me with them.

My most valuable possession is my name. My name tells everyone where I come from and who is in my family. After watching and reading the Crucible I have learned that my name is the most important thing that belongs to me. In the Crucible, John Proctor was asked to sign his name on a piece of paper in order to show that he confessed to witchcraft. He chose not to sign his name even though he confessed. He knew that if he signed the paper then he would die but he chose to do it because he did not want his future family to be marked with such a title. I really admire him for that. To die for your name means so much more than what you might think. If I had to die to save my name and the people after me then I would do it. I just hope that I never have to.

My most valuable possesion would have to be my friends. Not that I dont love my family, because I do but my friends are the ones that I can always count on because I am with them all day every day. Friends are much easier to talk to about problems because most likely they are either going through the same thing or have been through it before. They can relate easier than parents or other family members. Also, friends are not as quick to judge me as my family. As I am talking to my parents about a problem I am having, it seems like they are constantly picking out what I have done wrong in the situation and how I could have prevented it. This is important, but it is also very helpful to talk to someone who will just listen to me and then help me solve it from then. That person is a friend, someone I am extremely thankful for this Thanksgiving.

The most valuable possesion i have is the people that surround me everyday. My Family and my friends that are here to bring me up every day. If i didnt have those people in my life, it would be hard to tell where i would be or end up.
As in the situation of Abigal, and the people that are always amoungst her, she turns against them by manipulating them. And that puts me in that state of "what if?". The laughter and the joy that my family and friend brings is something thats not worth givin up. They help me paint the picture of how my life should be;including them.

Whether its crying, sickness, or even bored, i know that they will always be here. Family, most importantly are my prize possessions, they make me want succeed in life.
